My background is information technology and my past experience is over 40 years of computer database design and software development. When Kim and I permanently moved to the Valley in 2003 I continued to support my past clients from Fairmont Hot Springs while my son was assuming the role of providing these clients with on-site services. By 2004 my son was completely in charge and I retired to the golf course.
Funny thing about retiring ... it can be boring without having a reason to get up in the morning. Kim saw this and decided that maybe I needed something part time to do so she "encouraged" me to buy a small company that does house checking for absentee home owners. The owner's husband was being transferred out of the valley and there I was ... SEMI-retired. It was enjoyable getting out and doing something a few days a week and there was no set schedule for performing these services.
I have always supported Kim in her real estate career and it was my job to provide marketing ideas and making sure her name was "out there". My computer experience was a natural fit for creating her internet presence and she has achieved great success in these few short years.
Our latest adventure is the purchase of the Royal LePage franchise for Invermere and Fairmont Hot Springs in November 2007 and here I am ... UN-retired.
